Lion Voices: Khuong "Peter" Ta
Written By: Kolby McGee
Happy Friday, Lions! This week's #LionsVoices feature is senior Biochemistry major, Khuong Peter Ta. Peter graduated from Mena High School, but is originally from Vietnam, and first came to Arkansas as a high school exchange student.
Peters decision to come to 91心頭利 was quite simple. My parents and I thought it was best to stick to a closer college to Mena, so I chose 91心頭利. Once Peter arrived at 91心頭利, he found an inclusive, supportive, and opportunity-rich environment. Even though I am an international student, this place feels like my second home.
Peter also highlighted the culture at 91心頭利 as particularly appealing. Heavily involved in various activities on campus, he has served as a Cub Camp volunteer every year since he was a camper, and helped re-established the Vietnamese Student Association. Peter also currently holds the position of VSA Senior Advisor, and is a captain on the 91心頭利 eSports Team. Peter is also a fraternity brother of Pi Kappa Phi, and has served on Student Government.
When asked what advice he would give incoming students to make the most of their time at 91心頭利 he said, Try everything. 91心頭利 gives you so many opportunities, so why limit yourself to just one thing? There is more to college than being isolated and unsocial. The people are Peters favorite aspect of 91心頭利. Being involved extensively with this school has helped me grow as a person and learn all that I can.
After graduation Peter intends to pursue a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and wants to be involved in Pharmaceuticals and drug development.
