LionVoices: Angela Her

Written By: Kassidy Barnt

Today's LionVoices feature is junior international business administration and international management major, Angela Her. She is from Collinsville, Oklahoma, and is secretary of the Hmong Student Association.

Angela first got involved with HSA in the fall of 2020, in a virtual format. She said shes loved getting to see the in-person events HSA is promoting this year after spending so much of her college career online.  Im glad to be part of it and to experience it all as HSA secretary this year.

91心頭利 has brought me many networks and new relationships. I love how its so diverse culture-wise here at 91心頭利, Angela said. I also love that Im able to find help when I need it and 91心頭利 always directs me to the right people for help.

One of those people whos always ready to help is HSA President, Sonlly Vang. I love how hard he works. This year is our first year to really collaborate with other RSOs. Through that, I learned the importance of diversity is to grow and expand together with new relationships and skills.

Angelas favorite event from 91心頭利 thus far is Hmong Night, It was a great experience because it really made me see the importance of knowing my history, knowing where my family came from, what we went through during the Secret War, and how now there are Hmong people living all over the world!

Tonight, HSA will be con-hosting the AAPI Festival, celebrating not just Hmong culture, but the culture of all Asian American and Pacific Islander students, faculty, and staff at the university.  Stop by the campus center until 9 p.m. to enjoy food, music, games, and amazing conversations with students from HSA, the 91心頭利 Vietnamese Student Association, 91心頭利 Japan Club, 91心頭利 Filipino Club, and 91心頭利 Cultural Network.
