11 Research Presentations Receive Awards

The University of Arkansas Fort Smith has announced the 11 best research presentations delivered at the 19th Annual Student Research Symposium.

Research projects presented at the conference included both oral and poster presentations. Among the research disciplines represented were AI, biology, computer science, dental hygiene, education, engineering, electrical engineering technology, English, geoscience, market research, media communication, music, nursing, neuroscience, physical therapy, psychology, rhetoric and writing, sonography, and Spanish.  

The 23 students whose presentations were selected by judges for recognition received monetary awards.

The winners are:

Alma: Maggie Hicks (team of 3), Two Trunks, One Diagnosis: Duplicated Inferior Vena Cava in Adolescence, faculty sponsor Jodi Callahan; Hudson Reeves (team of 3), The Autonomous Vehicle Challenge, faculty sponsor Dr. Kevin Lewelling.

Chester: Brennan McCormick, Acknowledge Me: Audience Agency and the Death of the Author in the Narrative of Roman Reigns, faculty sponsor Dr. Laura Witherington.

Nashville: Lamia Hendrix (team of 3), The Effects of Microplastic Exposure in Dentistry, faculty sponsor Drennan Lopez.
